Volunteering at Sumak Runa

Volunteers are invited to exchange their time and skills for room and board at the lodge. From tending our organic gardens and helping with eco-construction to supporting hospitality and guest services, every helping hand makes a difference. You’ll live simply, eat communally, and learn as you go—immersed in the rhythms of mountain life.

This is more than a place to volunteer—it’s a chance to learn hands-on about:

• Permaculture and sustainable farming

• Natural building techniques

• Holistic wellness and forest bathing

• Cultural traditions and local Quechua practices

Volunteering at Sumak Runa is about mutual exchange: you offer your time, and in return, we share knowledge, experience, and community.

Are you an artist, herbalist, yogi, craftsperson, cook, or healer? Volunteers with specific skills are invited to lead classes or workshops for fellow travelers and locals. These classes enrich the community, support cross-cultural learning, and bring new energy to the lodge.

Monetary contributions help us grow responsibly. Donations go toward:

• Purchasing land to protect local ecosystems

• Building sustainable guest housing and common areas

• Offering free or low-cost workshops to the local community

We also accept in-kind donations such as:

• Gardening tools, seeds, and compost supplies

• Books and educational materials (Spanish or bilingual preferred)

• Eco-friendly building supplies

• Musical instruments or art supplies

• Laptops or tablets for community learning projects
